Chess events in the 20th Maccabiah Games

The chess tournaments in the 20th Maccabiah will be held on July 5-14 in Dan hotel, Jerusalem starting from 15.00

6 events are scheduled: 2 GM groups, 2 IM groups, one Open group and a junior tournament in Nesher nearby Haifa.

Ilyumzhinov’s visit 

The president of the International Chess Federation (Fide) Mr. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov will arrive for a 24-hour visit to Israel on the occasion of the opening of the chess competitions in the 20th Maccabiah Games. Mr. Ilyumzhinov will land at Ben Gurion International Airport on Friday July 7, 2017 at 2.40 and will hold a press conference that day at 14:00 at the Dan Hotel in Jerusalem (32 Lechi Street). At the press conference, the visitor will present a number of projects that the World Organization is interested in promoting in cooperation with the State of Israel. He will also congratulate the participants of the 20th Maccabiah chess tournaments.

We see this visit as a tribute to Israeli chess and its achievements and an expression of appreciation to the 20th Maccabiah Games in particular.
