You are warmly invited to participate in the 22nd Maccabiah Open International Chess Competition, which will be held at the Herzliya Chess Club, Natan Alterman St 31, Herzliya, between July 1st -July 10th.

Tournament details:

9-round Swiss System. The tournament is FIDE homologated.

Time control:  1h30+30 sec increment per move.

All Israeli players should have an Israeli Chess Federation License 2026 or pay 90 NIS in rating fees.

Pairings and the opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday 1/7 at 09:30.

The closing ceremony will take place on Friday 10/7 at 15:00. Attendance is mandatory.

On Saturday night, 4/7,  at 20:00, a blitz tournament will be held. Details will be provided at the playing hall.

Prizes:

Winners will receive special medals and prizes following the Maccabiah tradition.

Tie-breaks: points, bucholz cut one, bucholz, direct encounter.

Who can participate:

Players with International FIDE chess rating. A select number of players without FIDE rating will be permitted to participate.

FIDE rating between 2400-2300: 100 NIS

FIDE rating between 2300-2201: 150 NIS.

FIDE rating between 2200-2001: 200 NIS.

FIDE rating below 2000: 250 NIS.

Payment after 01/06/2025 will incur a supplement of 50 NIS.

GM, IM, and players with a rating over 2400: no participation fees.

Accommodation:

Israeli players should organise accommodation by themselves, for example through booking websites. Foreign players should organise accommodation through their national Maccabiah headquarters.

 

Maccabiah special merchandise:

Joggers, polo dri-fit t-shirt, tailored shorts, 2 t-shirts, sockers, and sports bag: 150 NIS. Cost 530 NIS (380 NIS are subsidised by Maccabiah), limited edition, first-come, first-served basis.  Participation in the official Maccabiah ceremony is mandatory for buyers.
